Devour by Shelly Crane

by Shelly Crane (Goodreads Author)

Clara has it all. A wrestling star boyfriend, popular friends, all the right school activities...pretty much a perfect life...up until her parents died. Now she lives with the Pastor and his family and though they take good care of her, she feels alone. Then her boyfriend, Tate, starts to show signs of trouble when a new guy, Eli, comes to town. Clara is fascinated with him but hides it until something happens. Eli confesses to her that she gives him something he's never had before...something he needs. Everything is about to change for this normal pretty popular girl in a supernatural way.

My Thoughts:

I am very intrigued by the whole devours concept. I think it is awesome what devours are. I find Eli dark and mysterious and enjoyed the love story. And the parrot was so funny. I liked how it ended and am wondering what will happen next. I have to say that after meeting Eli’s family mine isn’t that bad, lol!

Note: Rating PG-13. Three Stars (quite a few grammar issues)

Bloom by Julie Anne Lindsey

Bloom
by Julie Anne Lindsey (Goodreads Author)

In a town filled with her past, she never expected to find her future…

Seven years ago Cynthia left Honey Creek with a broken heart. Three years ago Mitchell arrived with one. Now Cynthia’s come home, and these two hardened hearts can’t stop arguing. If they’d take a break long enough to find some common ground, they might be surprised to find love can grow anywhere.

If they’ll let it, love will find a way to Bloom.

My Thoughts:

What a sweet adult romance! I loved how sassy Cynthia is to the next door neighbor, Mitchell. It was great fun to see their banter and the embarrassing moments. This book had a southern country feel to it that I loved, like a Sweet Home Alabama feel. Loved it!

Note: PG-13, very clean, four stars.

Ashlyn: A lonely society princess living in New York City. Daddy hired you to be my bodyguard. Colin: Childhood enemy, now her protector. Daddy thought I'd be safe. He thought I'd never fall in love. He thought he could keep me forever. Charles: obsessed with keeping her safe, keeping her his, he hires the one person he knows she could never fall in love with: Colin. Daddy was wrong.

My Thoughts:
There were many funny moments and many serious ones. And Colin is so sweet! I felt sorry for Ashlyn and her family life. It’s rough being a Teen and even rougher when you have her parents. I was so glad she had her music to keep her sane. I thought that Jennifer Laurens handled the intense emotions in this book very well. I was so wrapped up in it, I couldn’t put it down.
Note: Rating 15+, Four Stars
