Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi

Under the Never Sky (Under the Never Sky #1)

Since she'd been on the outside, she'd survived an Aether storm, she'd had a knife held to her throat, and she'd seen men murdered. This was worse.

Exiled from her home, the enclosed city of Reverie, Aria knows her chances of surviving in the outer wasteland - known as The Death Shop - are slim. If the cannibals don't get her, the violent, electrified energy storms will. She's been taught that the very air she breathes can kill her. Then Aria meets an Outsider named Perry. He's wild - a savage - and her only hope of staying alive.

A hunter for his tribe in a merciless landscape, Perry views Aria as sheltered and fragile - everything he would expect from a Dweller. But he needs Aria's help too; she alone holds the key to his redemption. Opposites in nearly every way, Aria and Perry must accept each other to survive. Their unlikely alliance forges a bond that will determine the fate of all who live under the never sky.

My Thoughts:
Wow! I loved this book. It has to be one of the best novels I have read this year! Author, Veronica Rossi, wove believable characters into an awesome world. When Aria was exiled, the book got so good that I couldn’t put it down and read it in one day. Love, loved Perry! It was so great and so real. I can’t wait for the next one to come out. Very well written and believable.

Note: 15+ There was violence and bloody scenes. Five plus stars!

Lucky Sevens

There's and author tag game going around. I was tagged by the amazing M. R. Polish author of the upcoming YA novel, Wolf Spell.

Of course with any tagging game, there are rules…
1. Go to page 77 of your current MS.
2. Go to line 7.
3. Copy down the next 7 lines (sentences or paragraphs) and post them as they’re written.
4. Tag 7 writers and let them know.

I thought this would be lots of fun. So I followed the directions and it landed at a story telling campfire party. Enjoy! I can’t wait to share the whole Curse of the Beast Novel with you:

Grandma lowered her eyes to the fire. “It wasn’t until years later that she discovered her mistake. In stripping her beloved of his human form, she also stripped him of all his humanity. He ravaged villages, killing without remorse. More than a beast, he was a monster.”
“The star wept as she viewed the chaos she’d created. She clutched the heavenly rock, dimly lighting her palm, scared of what it meant. There wasn’t enough magic to reverse the wrong she had done, but she could do something. Gripping her hunting knife, she spilled her blood on the heavenly rock, creating the first werewolf. Every night his human spirit strengthened enough to overcome the wolf, to walk the Earth as a man. The moon his forever sun—a reminder of what he had lost. ”

(Okay, so I have 9 lines, but I thought it would have been cruel to just cut it in the middle of Grandma talking. :-) )
